Results
A case of close but no cigar on this occasion. Headline selection SungJae Im was right in the mix from round 1 until Joohyung Kim turned on the afterburners early in his final round to put distance between himself and the chasing pack. It was one of the most remarkable performances I can recall from the Korean youngster – he needed to win to qualify for the FedEx and a quadruple bogey at his first hole would have had many people looking for the exit. To win by five shots was quite an achievement and I’m convinced this kid has a huge future. SungJae continued his upward trajectory and must remain of interest in the short term, particularly given he still has considerable room for improvement on the greens.
Davis Riley looked all set to also make the places for us until things went pear-shaped for an hour on the back nine Sunday. JT Poston put in another solid showing with a T21 and he continues to maintain his good recent form. But the week was really all about the emergence of a new star.
Preview
On holiday in Spain this week so the preview will be restricted to the selections only, but rest assured the analysis has still been taking place behind the scenes!
