What a first half of the year it was for FormGolfer followers as we built on the profits of our first two years with more big-priced wins and consistent returns. After a slow start during January and the first half of February, we got ourselves into profit with Hideki Matusyama’s incredible 66/1 win in the Genesis, followed swiftly by Jake Knapp’s first ever Tour victory in the Mexico Open. Those two big wins put us in a great position coming out of February, with 167 points cumulative profit at that stage of the season. March and April were relatively quiet but still yielded small profits, with the high points being Stephan Jaeger’s narrow victory over Scottie Scheffler in the Houston Open and our biggest ever recommended stake in The Masters. We felt that Scottie was the perfect fit for Augusta and despite being a strong favourite, still represented good value. He duly won comfortably.
May, in contrast, was a little disappointing. We were confident about Rory McIlroy when he won the Wells Fargo, but we had little else to show for our efforts, resulting in a small loss on the month. This was swiftly put right in June though, with another big win recommendation on Scottie in The Memorial followed up the very next week with Bryson DeChambeau our headline selection in the US Open. June ended 130 points in profit, lifting us to over 300 points on the season to date.
While our first two full seasons ended with impressive profit numbers, 2024 is shaping up to be our best season to date. We always start out hoping to hit at least a 20% return; it’s now looking like a realistic target to be aiming at over 50% for the second season in a row. What’s particularly encouraging is that our methodology is picking up all kinds of winners; newcomers securing their maiden victories and veterans returning to form. Strong recommendations on big names and less heralded players at bigger prices. Wherever there’s value to be found in the markets, we will find it.
